Team and Product Description
We are very interested in scalable data services to allow multi-tier high availability applications to be written easily and run efficiently and securely, built using RDMA and a variety of storage media. This requires a full stack that incorporates development tools, hardware, protocols, algorithms, persistent and non-persistent data formats, deployment and configuration tools, and data driven autonomous management.
Our team’s recent work includes: New APIs for Cloud DB programming, HW acceleration for SQL, efficient lock-free algorithms for Non-Volatile Memory, new programming models for coprocessors, Big Data acceleration and integration with Oracle products, database optimized compression algorithms, and HW aware plan optimization.
Description of Role
We are looking for candidates with great coding skills plus a wide knowledge of many computer science disciplines: parallel processing, distributed systems, analysis of algorithms, statistics, queuing theory, control theory, software engineering, computer architecture, and operating systems. Good writing and presentation skills are a plus. Internship projects are chosen based on the mutual interest of the intern and the team and publishing the research work that is done during the summer internship is encouraged.
Preferred Qualifications
- Degree level (BS/MS/PhD): PhD candidates are preferred
- Major(s): CS or EE
- Programming languages/tools: C, C++, Java, Python, Go
- Preferred coursework: Algorithms, OS, Computer Architecture, Networking, Distributed Systems
