INDUSTRY INTERNSHIP OPPORTUNITY

TWO SIGMA - Storage Systems

Position Type: Internship
Location: NYC (housing included)

JOB SUMMARY

Our distributed storage team is looking for one or two outstanding students to work on proof of concept storage systems to help shape our software development and hardware selection roadmaps. This may involve implementing prototype metadata and tiered data systems for evaluation using metrics-derived synthetic workloads, trace based workloads, and production workloads. We are invested heavily in the distributed time-series database space. Our team builds distributed systems software to store over 20PB of unique unstructured and structured data in service of our compute grids, ad-hoc data analysis queries, and production processes.

We also take on graduate student interns for specific projects and we are open to those projects containing work product that can be incorporated into publications or dissertations.

Requirement

Two Sigma’s standard internship program is for BS, MS or PhD students who are 1 year from graduation. But the specific roles we are now trying to fill are specifically for PDL students who may be at any point in their studies, and specifically for more research oriented roles at Two Sigma as described above.

HOW TO APPLY

Please send your resume to Roland Wunderlich <roland.wunderlich@twosigma.com>. More detailed logistics information will be provided as needed. Two Sigma’s internship program pays competitively and includes housing in NYC.

Roland is considering a visit to CMU to meet with potential candidates for these internships later in March. More information on that will follow.
