TITLE:
VMware's vCloud Initiative

ABSTRACT:
Done right, cloud computing can be used for all applications, change how we develop and deploy applications, enable new hardware, OSes and programming models, and enable new models for computer services. Cloud computing can fundamentally change our industry. However, to achieve this potential, we need to harness and facilitate the innovation of a broad industry and research community. Done wrong, cloud computing will have limited applicability and result in vendor lock in. I will discuss VMware's vision of cloud computing, technologies behind the vCloud initiative, and related research challenges.
