Nectar currently has a prototype network (100 Mb/sec) in place with about 10 nodes (Sun workstations) and two 64-node iWarp parallel processing arrays. This year Nectar will be installing the gigabit Nectar network. It is based on HIPPI (800 Mb/sec) links, and 2 or 3 NSC PS32 network switches. It will connect our iWarp parallel processing systems to 25 DEC Alpha workstation and a HIPPI/ATM/SONET link to the Pittsburgh Supercomputer Center's Cray 90, T3D and CM-2. Supporting these systems, we have a hardware testing and diagnostics facility.
