Responsibilities

Our team is growing and we are seeking an individual contributor Architect on the Storage team to develop new service features for nearest neighbor search technologies on a worldwide data storage service.

The service is a highly performing, distributed, highly available and resilient system. This is a service that has to scale from a few thousands of very active users to millions of lightly active users so your skills in choosing the right data structures and algorithms will be challenged very heavily. Your responsibility will be to analyze, design, and implement improvements to reduce COGS and drive those changes across a large product group.

The ideal candidate should have strong analytical, design, and development skills with depth in databases, storage, high performance data structures and algorithms paired with a passion for analyzing and improving performance - I/O, memory, CPU, and concurrency. They should have a strong development background, excellent communication skills, and a strong foundation in Computer Science. Lastly, because the work is done indirectly on behalf of a large team, skills in persuasion are the keys to success.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • 7 years of professional software development experience with proficiency in C# or C/C++

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strong design, implementation, and debugging skills.
  • Knowledge of scripting languages a plus
  • Experience with distributed systems, performance analysis, databases, and/or large-scale data processing
  • Experience with design and analysis of data structures for search systems
  • Strong communication skills (both written and oral)
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and work independently
  • BS/BA in computer science, or equivalent in related technical experience
  • Knowledge of email systems is a plus.
  • Experience with financial analysis is a plus.

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter
