TITLE: Performance Study of Spindle: A Web Analytics Query Engine Implemented in Spark
The Adobe Marketing Cloud provides a web analytics platform on a distributed system. This talk presents an early-stage study by Adobe Research on the feasibility of using the Spark distributed computing environment for web analytics in the Adobe Marketing Cloud. This study has resulted in the Spindle project as a benchmarkable web analytics processing engine. We will cover small-scale experimental results from tuning Spindle and Spark for low-latency queries. Spindle is openly available at https://github.com/adobe-research/spindle.
Brandon Amos is a first-year Computer Science Ph.D. student at Carnegie Mellon and obtained a B.S. in Computer Science from Virginia Tech in May 2014. He is advised by Professor Mahadev Satyanarayanan and his research interests are in distributed and mobile systems. He developed the Spindle project at a summer internship with Adobe Research.
