TITLE: Hadoop Trends and Futures

ABSTRACT:
Apache Hadoop is a highly scalable, reliable, low cost data storage and processing technology at the center of today's "Big Data" movement. Hadoop was initially developed and deployed at Yahoo and similar internet companies. Recently an ecosystem of Hadoop distribution vendors and partners have facilitated Hadoop's migration from the internet companies that originally developed and deployed it to a much more diverse set of enterprise deployments. This migration has produced a new set of challenges that the Hadoop community has just begun to internalize and address. In this talk I'll cover specific challenges and broader trends that have influenced Hadoop's recent development and that are driving its future roadmap. Within the trends framework I will cover both committed Hadoop roadmap and possible areas for future research collaboration with the Hadoop community.
