TITLE:
The Future of Software Radios

ABSTRACT:
We now have about two decades of experience with software radios in research and industry and it seems a useful time to take stock. What is the future of software in radios? Will software defined radios take over the world? Will we see cognitive radios? How many different types of software radios are there?

The central focus of this talk is an attempt to answer these questions, by tracing possible and likely trajectories for the evolution of software radios.

BIO:
Dr. Craig Partridge is chief scientist for internetworking at BBN Technologies. Craig is best-known for designing how Internet email is routed and for creating what was then the world's fastest Internet router in the mid-1990s. He's an IEEE and ACM Fellow.
