The researcher would be part of a multi-disciplinary team of researchers who are developing innovative optical approaches to data storage for the cloud era. This is a great opportunity to develop novel optical solutions that have a real impact on the product teams that are responsible for providing cloud storage.
Post Doc Researcher – initially a 1 year fixed term contract, possible extension up to 2 years.

Responsibilities
This position is for a post-doctoral researcher with a combination of system research capability and skilled software engineering ability who will have the opportunity to impact the design and implementation of all aspects of our system. The Project Silica team is highly diverse across many disciplines and we seek someone who can learn quickly, has an aptitude for creative and efficient solutions, and can communicate effectively to those with different specialisms.
Qualifications
Required:
- Having completed or on track to complete a relevant PhD.
- Passion for operating systems and/or storage system design.
- Excellent software implementation skills.
- Creative and collaborative approach to problem solving.
- Capability for rapid and accurate development in C, C++, or C#.
Preferred (one or more of):
- Interested in working in a multi-disciplinary team.
- Experience of systems or storage development.
- Experience of signal processing.
- Knowledge of Python.
