Manager of Software Quality
Location: Pittsburgh, PA
This individual will lead a Software Quality group that has responsibility for testing and validating
Panasas products. The functions represented in this group will be a mix of the following:
- New product testing: Responsible for test planning and execution on new products or feature
releases. Work with solution teams to develop any necessary tests. Responsible for integrating
new tests into existing test framework. - Maintenance release and patch release testing: Responsible for test planning and execution on
all releases. - Build and release: Responsible for all product builds and releases. Maintain and develop build
system. - Test tools and infrastructure: Responsible for maintenance and development of test frameworks
and tools.
The successful candidate for this job will be an experienced hands-on manager, with strong leadership
skills and proven success in testing large, complex, commercial software systems.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Hire team according to plan.
- Manage technical staff, including career development.
- Project management of portfolio of different products and releases.
- Work with development management to deliver products on time with acceptable level of
quality. - Provide leadership to drive quality at Panasas.

EXPERIENCE / QUALIFICATIONS
- 5 or more years of software test, QA or development experience, plus at least 2 years of
software quality or test engineering management experience. - Thorough understanding of software development and QA processes, principles, and
techniques. - Strong collaboration skills.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Strong operational management and leadership skills.
- Innovative problem solving skills.
- Experience with remote team management, both in-house and outsourced.
- File system, NAS or large client/ server product experience is desirable.
- Experience with Linux, C, perl, Tcl and/ or Python is desirable.

Software Engineer – Core Functionality, Management Interface Design
Location: Pittsburgh, PA
The Quality Assurance (QA) Engineer is responsible for creating and maintaining QA applications for file systems testing, and coordinating with multi-disciplined project groups to achieve their goals. This position requires a competent, results-oriented, creative software/QA engineer who likes to try new things.
The individual is expected to be able to work with a variety of development environments and operating systems. The individual should have an understanding of testing methodologies, programming and scripting languages. Must have superior problem solving skills and the ability to work in a multidisciplined environment.
DESCRIPTION
As a member of Panasas's Core Functionality team, you will be working on critical customer facing issues in the Panasas Graphic User Interface and Command Line Interface portion of product. Working with other engineers, you will design and implement features that enhance stability and functionality of the management interface, and debug and fix critical issues. The successful candidate will be a high energy problem solver who enjoys working in a fast paced, team-oriented environment.
EXPERIENCE / QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum of 2 years industry experience developing network, storage or high performance
computing related software products. - Experience in C/C++, multi-threading / parallel programming, distributed systems, asynchronous
programming and/ or fault-tolerance techniques required. - A strong candidate will be proficient in at least one of these areas:
- Intelligent event reporting and intuitive user-interface design.
- Scripting languages (Unix shell, Tcl/Tk, Perl, Python).
- Database design (BerkeleyDB, SQL).
- Unix-based memory management.
- Unix-based web services and CGI scripts.
- Network file systems and their protocols (NFS, CIFS, etc.).
- Knowledge of SAN & NAS storage paradigms a plus.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills required.
- Must be goal-oriented and self-directed yet able to flourish in a team-oriented development
environment. - B.S. in Computer Science / Computer Engineering or equivalent experience, with M.S. preferred.

Distributed FileSystems Engineer
Location: Sunnyvale, CA or Pittsburgh, PA
As a member of the storage architecture team you will be working on the distributed file system client. As part of your job you will be working with the architect to design and develop file system coherence algorithms. You will also be working on interactions with the metadata manager and various other file system components including CIFS and NFS. The position will also expose you to Object Storage and iSCSI.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Design and Develop new functionality.
- Develop unit and system tests and execute them prior to handing off code to the QA team
- Participate in the end-to-end analysis of the system's performance.
- Participate in file system performance tuning.
- Resolve bugs found by QA and in the field.
- Work with Service team to make sure that new features can be easily maintained and serviced.
- Participate in the training of QA and the service teams on new features that have been
developed by the team. - Work on high priority/critical issues found at customer sites.
EXPERIENCE / QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum of 5 years industry experience developing storage-related software products.
- Extensive knowledge of C/C++, kernel level development, multi-threading / parallel programming, distributed systems, and fault-tolerance techniques.
- Knowledge of network file systems protocols (NFS, CIFS, AFS) preferred.
- Knowledge of SAN & NAS storage paradigms a plus.
- Ability to work in teams.
