JOB SUMMARY
Do you want to develop the next generation open sourced big data analytic / machine learning tools that powers cloud applications for billions of people? Come and join the Cloud Computing and Storage (CCS) group at Microsoft Research to develop Prajna, the next generation unified cloud programming platform that can consolidate cloud service, interactive big data analytics, real-time query serving, batch data processing, large scale machine learning under the same platform.
Prajna is open source released on github at https://github.com/MSRCCS/Prajna, and is available as a Nuget package. Inspired by Spark, we have built Prajna, a distributed functional programming platform (written in F#, but consumable in any .Net language). Prajna offers real-time in-memory data analytical capability similar to Spark (but on .Net platform), but offers additional capability to allow programmer to easily build and deploy cloud services, and consume the services in mobile apps, and build distributed application with state (e.g., a distributed in-memory key-value store). You will have the opportunity to lay the ground work for the next generation cloud platform.
Requirement
This internship is for PhD candidates.
Qualifications
Strong background in system programming. A hacker in the core. Familiarity with distributed systems, .net, functional programming or high-performance computing are pluses.
