INTEL - Enterprise Big Data Workload Analysis

Parallel Computing Lab (PCL) at Intel is looking for internship candidates for a research project on "Enterprise Big Data Workload Analysis". Following the recent trends in the area of Big Data, we would like to understand the characteristics of enterprise big data systems and applications, in particular their implications in terms of data center architectures. We will focus on a few commonly used, open-source big data platforms (such as Twitter Storm or Apache Spark) and use various simulation/emulation/runtime tools for analysis. System-level (core/memory/storage/interconnect architectures) workload analysis is our target for this summer internship. The long-term goal of the project is to find an answer to the question "What is the 'ideal' big data machine?". Strong background on big data systems and applications will be very helpful for the project.
