PROJECT OUTLINE
Big data analytics requires big data management. The peta-scale object store project explores large scale NVM programming techniques and data management in the context of The Machine program at Hewlett Packard Labs. The project will integrate a high volume hot data store, a near-data computing paradigm and a high performance metadata store supporting billions of queries per day. We will be pushing the state of the art in all areas touched by the project, including: memory management in a non-coherent architecture with petabytes of shared non-volatile memory; metadata management in non-volatile, byte-addressable shared storage on a large compute cluster; techniques for generalized, parallel computation across thousands of cores; and availability and resilience in the face of hardware and software failures in rack-scale computing environments.

- Graduate student (PhD or MS) in CS or ECE
