FULL TIME SUMMER INTERNSHIP

Location: Research Triangle Park, NC

Join the EMC Intelligent Information Management (IIM) Classification team in researching and developing classification solutions for the next-generation enterprise-class information lifecycle management product. You will research, design and implement or integrate high performance components in a distributed system leveraging existing internal and new external technology sources.

We are looking for a Software Engineer Intern who is passionate about applying state of the art search and classification technology to unstructured and structured data and develop enterprise-class information management software. This person should be a good team player and will be part of a cross functional, geographically distributed team.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

• Use technical expertise to identify, research, design, prototype and implement enhancements to IIM classification components and processes.
• Ensure that functional solutions are designed and delivered with the highest degree of customer satisfaction.
• Author complex technical documents and write papers.
• Interface with management to provide and obtain information and to build consensus regarding project direction.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS

• Semantic/Linguistic/Text Indexing research background highly preferred
• Good software design skills
• Object oriented programming experience in C++/C#/Java
• Ability to work meticulously and with attention to detail
• Good software debugging skills
• Experience with test frameworks such as JUnit is a plus.
• Experience with XML technologies.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to work in a geographically distributed team environment
• Experience investigating requirements, demonstrating suitability of, and integrating software components.
• Working towards PhD/MS degree in Computer Science
