EMC: Software Developer - Cloud Foundry

Locations: Job 141309BR – San Francisco; Job 141314BR – Cambridge

We Are Making Open Source software Enterprise Ready

The EMC Cloud Management Division is bringing enterprise capabilities to Cloud Foundry and multi-cloud environments. We will help enterprise customers make hybrid-cloud computing a meaningful part of their IT strategy. These multi-cloud environments will include private, public, and SaaS deployments. We are also developing an eco-system of partners to help customers realize these goals.  We are committed to the Open Source community and want you to make contributions.

We Can Go Fast Forever

We have a pair program environment, all day, every day because we know it delivers remarkable results.  We practice and teach an approach to software engineering that applies across industries and organizations, so you’ll experience all types of teams, products, and technologies.  And we believe in working at a sustainable pace – you’ll typically code hard for 8 hours each day, but then you’re off work to relax, recharge and refocus.

We Court Perfection

Working at EMC means you get better at what you already do well.  We set up regular retrospectives to figure out what we're doing wrong so we can fix it, and what we're doing right so we can improve on it.  We consistently practice Test Driven Development, which results in high-quality, reliable and more maintainable code.  And we believe that methodical, steady, relentless forward momentum drives consistent results.

JOB SUMMARY

The Cloud Management team is looking for a few rockstar engineers to join us in building an open source platform that transforms how the world deploys and scales software at the enterprise level. This is a unique opportunity to be part of an emerging team that offers the agility, fun and innovative climate of a start-up, with the backing and resources of a $26 Billion business.

You

You love shipping features, but know that well factored code is what lets you keep shipping features in the long run.  Maybe you get antsy writing code without tests, or perhaps you’re a large-scale system operator interested in leveling-up your coding skills. Either way, you judge your success by the success of your team; you are interested in learning about distributed systems; and you are excited to work on open source.

Us

Cloud Management is an emerging team within EMC, whose aim is to industrialize PaaS for the enterprise.  Our initial focus is on partnering with the Cloud Foundry team, which is co-developed with Pivotal Labs and the end work will be with EMC, a leader in the field of agile software development. We will leverage the contemporary and proven practices that are based on our strong opinions about how software should be built. We pair program, all-day every-day, because we know it delivers remarkable results. We work in small teams, and rotate between them frequently. We believe in working at a sustainable pace – you’ll typically code hard for 8 hours each day, but then you’re off work to relax, recharge, and refocus.

Where

You’ll work with the Pivotal Cloud Foundry engineering team, located in Cambridge.  To make sure you start your day energized, we provide a catered breakfast every weekday morning, and unlimited snacks/drinks are of course available all day. Our collaborative, open-plan office space is filled with talented, like-minded engineers who enjoy taking advantage of our weekly Tech Talks, playing ping pong, and hanging out with their co-workers.

We’re seeking more amazing developers to add to our team!
