Based on the co-design of software and hardware systems, we are building high performance database systems by taking advantage of architectures of modern CPU, memory and storage. Not only do we want to drive Alibaba’s still fast-growing business, but we also allow more enterprise customers to minimize the effort required to build highly concurrent and scalable systems for their business. Currently we are looking for top talents and leaders globally to build the next generation DBMS X-DB, including but not limited to:
- Storage engine: software and hardware co-design with FPGA/NVM/RDMA/GPU. System design for high performance with large-scale concurrency.
- Distribution scale out: global data distribution with consistency and load balance, such as Paxos and distributed transaction design.
- Optimizer: SQL optimization for distributed execution.
- Intelligent Databases: ML for databases, such as hot/cold data identification, workload prediction and optimization and ml for cache algorithm.
- Multi-model Databases: computation and storage of graph, document, time-series, and geo-gis data.
Requirements/Qualification
- Masters or Ph.D., CS preferred.
- Familiar with distributed consensus algorithms like Paxos and/or Raft. Hands on experience preferred.
- Experience in the design and development of core components of NewSQL and/or traditional RDBMS is a plus.
- Proficiency in multi-threading and network programming on Linux, with deep experience in one or more relevant languages (C, C++, Python, Java).
- Knowledge of data structures, algorithms, database and distributed systems.
- Self-motivated and open-minded, passionate with new technologies.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
